Focus or lack there of

What do you spend your attention on?
How do you spend your time?
What do you spend your time on?
Do you multitask?
Move from one thing to another?
Are you living in a state of constant distraction?
Are you doing one thing then reacting to an interruption, text, phone call, email, instant messaging, a device of some sort?

In this age of technology it’s not as easy as it once was to focus. Life seems to be moving faster. It seems like we’re always on; immediate response is expected, instant gratification, 24×7.

I never thought I’d see the day when the concept of focus would be delivered in the form of products. Today there are books on the topic, dietary supplements sold, exercise programs and essential oil blends.

My question is have we lost the ability to focus in this technology age or do we just need to bring awareness to?

So, do you focus your attention, time and energy on a specific person or task?

What would it take to bring focus back to your life?

Gratitude, Happiness and Appreciation

Have you ever kept a gratitude journal or tracked things that you were thankful for?  Studies have shown that being aware and focusing on what we are grateful for impacts our level of happiness.  It’s simple to do.  Give it a try.

Gratitude journal or conversations

Start a gratitude journal or daily list.  Capture what 3 things you were grateful for today.

If you don’t like to write, start a dinner ritual with your family and share what you liked best about your day and what you are grateful for.

Or if you’re on the go at dinnertime ask your kids or spouse before they go to bed.  This simple exercise may help others to become aware of what they appreciate and can strengthen relationships.

Research has shown that this practice can shift perspective and help you to focus on the good things happening in your life.
