I am coaching with Alicia Forest. Recently, we had my planning retreat. We went thru what I’d like to do and laid out a plan on how to get it done. It’s nice to work with a coach who understands where you are and where you want to go. She helps to hold my vision. She encourages and holds me accountable to my plans. As I am trying to further develop and learn new skills I find working with someone who has the experience where I’m looking to grow beneficial. As I can benefit from her lessons learned and have her support me with things I’ve never done before. I’m a visual learner so I like to see how to do things then I can easily do them. It’s easier than trying to read something and then do it by myself. When working in a leadership role, it’s important to ask for help and support. Trying to do everything by yourself is not helpful to anyone. In fact it can create frustrations with people on your team as they may feel they never get to opportunity to learn anything new. I don’t know too many people who like to be stagnant.
What do you do to get support?
