Focus or lack there of
What do you spend your attention on?
How do you spend your time?
What do you spend your time on?
Do you multitask?
Move from one thing to another?
Are you living in a state of constant distraction?
Are you doing one thing then reacting to an interruption, text, phone call, email, instant messaging, a device of some sort?
In this age of technology it’s not as easy as it once was to focus. Life seems to be moving faster. It seems like we’re always on; immediate response is expected, instant gratification, 24×7.
I never thought I’d see the day when the concept of focus would be delivered in the form of products. Today there are books on the topic, dietary supplements sold, exercise programs and essential oil blends.
My question is have we lost the ability to focus in this technology age or do we just need to bring awareness to?
So, do you focus your attention, time and energy on a specific person or task?
What would it take to bring focus back to your life?
To Do List vs Priorities
Everyone has a to do list. Some keep it on paper, some electronic, some keep it in their head. It’s a list that has all the things you feel you need to get done. It could be short or long. It may even be filled with items that you think you should do, things you want to do, or things you may get to eventually. My husband often laughs at my to do list as it often starts with “Get Up” and appears as never ending.
My to do list isn’t the same as my priorities. I’ve learned that some people get confused about this or think that they are the same thing. My priorities are the what is most important to me. Sometimes our priorities get lost in the daily minutia of our lives or compete with our to do lists.
I’ve learned that it’s important to identify what your priorities are and to use them as guideposts for your to do list.
