Smell the roses

Invest in your spirit & soul

Make time each day for some quiet alone time

Take a few moments for yourself to disconnect from the busyness and stress of the day.

Having quiet time allows you a moment to hear your inner voice, to think, or dream.  It allows a moment to take a breath, refresh yourself and be mindful.

If you are able to carve out a chunk of time, do something that feeds you spirit & soul and brings you joy or a sense of satisfaction.

Things that nourish my spirit & soul:

Read

I love to read and browse in book stores.

I could spend hours in a book store exploring the different sections if I had the time.  It’s often a place I’ll often stop into if I have a few minutes free to myself.

There is nothing like cozying up with a good book whether it’s on my deck or at the beach in the summer or on my couch under a blanket in the winter.

I read to escape reality.

  • Fiction & mystery novels are my favorite for this

I read to get ideas, learn things or enrich my knowledge.

  • Non-fiction, Personal Development, Health & Wellness, Science, Creativity or Business are favorite categories

Sometimes I’ll browse or pick up one of my favorite magazines.

  • Breathe, Bella-Grace, Psychologies, Flow, Live Happy, Happinez, In the Moment, Project Calm, Belong or The Collective are some magazine I often flip through to name a few.

Listen to music

Music brings a power to calm, bring peace, to soothe, inspire and motivate.

  • Listen to different genres of music
  • Use music to suit your mood or support an activity
    • Singing
    • Driving
    • Relaxing
    • Dancing
    • Writing
    • Working out

Do something creative

Expressing yourself with something made by your own hands will cultivate and nourish your soul.

  • Make a Discovery Boards to explore a side of you
  • Take an art class
  • Explore an art or craft supply store
  • Explore an old hobby or try something new
  • Journal or color
  • See a show at the theatre or attend a concert

Using your creativity is one of the best things you could do for yourself.

Go out and be in nature

There is nothing like spending time in nature to put things in perspective.

Nature can open you up and stimulate your senses, making you feel more alive. It can also bring you quiet, comfort, tranquility and peace.

Go for a walk and take in the beauty of the natural world.

Take a trip to the mountains, ocean or lakes region. At this time of year, it’s nice to take in the beauty of the foliage and all the colors it brings.

Enjoy a hobby

Spend some time on a favorite hobby.

  • Make a quilt
  • Sew
  • Paint

Whatever it is embrace the process and experience your joy in it.

Write

Perhaps you have a desire to write a book, journal or blog

What is stopping you?

Someone needs to hear what you have to say. You may be the person to reach others with your heartfelt words.

Find your “voice” and give expression to it.

Create the environment you crave in your home

Your home should be a sanctuary for your soul.

You home should be a place full of love, laughter, and peace.

It should be a refuge from the rest of the world for you and your family.

Decorate and organize your home in a way that pleases you and your family.

Your home should be a place of comfort, beauty and love.

What nourishes your spirit and soul?
