The truth will set you free

On the Edge

If you read my last post then you know I was on the edge.

I was tired of trying to be superwoman and feeling like I wasn’t doing anything well.

I decided to take a step back.

I took the time to reflect and really look at my life.

This is what I learned….

Here’s truth bomb #1: I wasn’t being honest with myself.

Truth bomb #2:  I was losing sight of me & what I really wanted for my life.

Truth bomb #3: I was sick of feeling like I wasn’t good enough trying to do everything well and be all things to all people.

If I was being really honest with myself, I knew that…

  • I wasn’t taking good care of myself.
  • I wasn’t being present.
  • I wasn’t fully engaged in my own life.
  • I wasn’t being my best.
  • I didn’t love how I was living my life.
  • All I was doing was reacting.
  • I needed to make a change but how? Where to start?

Being the leader of your life is a process.

The first step to be the leader of your life is self-awareness.

Women struggle with what is expected of them or what they think is expected of them.  We tend to put others needs ahead of our own.  We may feel distracted, overwhelmed and frustrated.  If we don’t address this then we may start to feel resentful which has its own consequences.

Have you ever struggled with others expectations?         What did you think was expected of you?

I needed to regain control and make myself a priority in my own life.

Sick & Tired

Is this you?

I was tired of trying to be all things to all people. I was tired of feeling stressed out all the time.

I’ll admit I’ve been a people pleaser and a bit of a perfectionist. I hold myself to a high standard.

I was a mother, a boss, a wife and daughter trying to manage my house, my family, my job, and my team at a time when there seemed to be no certainty and every other week there was yet another layoff at work.

The environment at work was depressing. I was constantly saying goodbye to people I liked and had enjoyed working with for years. I was undoing things I spent years developing and putting into place.

I was trying to stay positive, motivate my team and help them through the changes due to acquisition. We were learning the new company’s procedures and system as we were transitioning while still maintaining and using our own.

We needed to continue to do our jobs and keep the business running.

I was traveling for work often. I felt like there was no such thing as work life balance.

I was struggling to keep up with everything. I was starting to run on autopilot.

Frankly, I was really tired of trying to be superwoman.

Does this sound like you?
