Success Strategies

How do you set yourself up for success?

There are any strategies and approaches available in the world.

Jack Canfield’s book The Success Principles is a great resource for ideas and strategies for success.

My Success Approach

This is the approach I generally take:

  • Define what success means to me
  • Visualize what success would look like to me
  • Identify what I want to achieve
  • Create personal goals that align with the items above
  • Ask, what actions would I need to take
    • What skills do I need to develop or learn?
    • Is there information on the topic available?
    • Are there courses or conferences coming up?
    • Who do I need to network with?
    • Where could I practice and further develop my skills?
  • What do I need to stop doing, continue doing and start doing?
  • What habits do I need to create, shift or stop?
  • Make decisions
    • on events to attend, course to take, people to reach out to
  • Break goals down into tasks
  • Plan and schedule the time for the work
  • Decide what I need for support
  • Define how I will hold myself accountable
  • Take Action & do the work

Being Creative

What do you need to let go of to be creative?

Trying to be creative can be a daunting experience. Often, we hold beliefs or assumptions that hold you back.

You may have a voice in your head saying things like:

  • I’m not a creative.
  • I don’t have talent.
  • I’m not an artist.
  • I don’t know what I’m doing. I can’t do that.

The truth is everyone is creative.

Creativity isn’t only for art or artists. You can demonstrate creativity in a brainstorming session using mind maps or drawings. It can be demonstrated in a presentation or a talk.

Fear and perfection usually get in the way.

Let go of your assumptions and beliefs and express your creativity.

Flow

I don’t know about you but I love it when I feel like I’m in a state of Flow. All cylinders are working at the same time. My juices are flowing, and energy is aligned. I’m just going with the flow. Getting done what needs to be done without stress. Ahh. Love it when it happens.

The challenge is getting into the state of flow. When my mind is racing with thoughts or I feel different demands on my shoulders, it’s hard to get there. So, what’s a girl to do?

Steps to getting into a state of flow

First, I take out a piece of paper and write down all the thoughts spiraling in my mind. Empty the brain.

Then, I take a few grounding deep breaths. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly.

Next, I get clear on what it is I intend to do with this block of time I have carved out.

After I’m clear, I set the mood and my intention. Maybe I light a candle. Turn on my daytime lights on high, put some music on. Drink some water.

Finally, I start. It may not be a perfect start, but I just start with something. As long as i’m feeling grounded and calm without judgement, it comes. Flow.
